Animal Welfare

Wild Diversity

Experiencing wild animals in their natural habitat is one of the most powerful moments of any journey – moving, unforgettable, and truly unique. Yet such encounters are only meaningful when the welfare of the animals is assured. The DERTOUR Foundation is committed to this responsibility: we work to protect animals worldwide from the risks of tourism while strengthening its positive effects wherever possible – for example, in protected areas that safeguard habitats and preserve biodiversity.

At the heart of our work lies animal welfare – whether in the wild or in places where animals live more closely alongside humans. We focus particularly on species heavily affected by tourism, such as elephants, whales and dolphins. Together with animal welfare organisations and local partners, we support projects that offer travellers responsible, animal-friendly experiences while putting the protection of wildlife first.

But sustainable animal protection goes further. It begins with the people who live in these regions. That is why we place great importance on education and the active involvement of local communities. Only when they understand and support the importance of animal protection can we safeguard species today – and secure their future for tomorrow.
